Post Office Closings Threaten Native Voting Rights

In an effort to reduce the mounting debt of the U.S. Postal Service, the agency has proposed closing 3,600 branches; several of which can be found in tribal communities. The ramifications of closing postal service offices on tribal lands will be felt not only by those who communicate mainly through mail but those that vote via mail-in-ballot.

Please support my friend, Wenona Benally Baldenegro for Congress, If Wenona wins she will be the first Native American woman to serve in the United States congress.

From Wenona: It is time for a new vision for Arizona and the rest of the country. Together, we can make it happen! I'm running for Congress because we need leaders who will stand up for America's working people, seniors, and middle-class families, and who will restore our image as proud Arizonans.

I am a 1996 graduate of Monument Valley High School and an alumna of Arizona State University. I received my J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and a master's degree in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. For the past 10 years, I've been working with Indian tribes promoting economic and community development. I've also been working with advocacy groups, policymakers, and local nonprofit organizations, in Arizona and across the Nation, in the area of local/small business development and affordable housing.
